How to add new Places to your dashboard

How are Google Places pulled into the dashboard?

Google Places are pulled into the dashboard according to the geofence areas pinned in the DXP Dashboard. The Google API provides a certain number of Places in each geofence radius to be pulled. If a business is not indexed in these results delivered by Google, the business can be searched for with Add Google Place by Name. This tool allows a Dashboard admin to search for a specific Google Place to be added to the system. If the business does not appear in the Google Place results, reach out to ITI Support for assistance, and a business not indexed by Google Places may be added manually.

1) Add Google Place by Name

Adding a Google Place by name is the best method to add a Place to your Dashboard. Google will provide the detail information and images of the Place, and this information will be automatically updated by the system.

• After logging in on your dashboard, go to the "Content Management" button under the Admin section. Click on "Places" Scroll down until you see "Add Google Place by Name" on the left side of the page.

• Next, enter the Business Name that you want to add then click Seach. There will be a pop-up box displaying the information of the business you searched for.
• If you utilize custom categories, a category must be assigned to a Place to save as Approved. Categorize the Place you wish to add to save as Approved, or save to Unapproved to add and categorize later.

2) Create a Place Manually 

If the place you wish to add is not indexed by Google or if it is not included in categories accepted by ImGoing, no problem! It can be created manually. 

• Go to Content Management and click on "Places" scroll down, and you will see "Create Place Manually."
• Then, insert the info about the place: Name, Location, Category, Description, and Image.
  • It is required to select the address from the Google dropdown. This will allow displaying the place in the widget map and get directions. If there's no address to add, you can select the city. 
  • The description and Image are not required. In case there's no uploaded image, your logo will be displayed! 
• Places added manually via the dashboard admin access are automatically APPROVED.

• Places created manually will be flagged in the Dashboard with a tab labeled 'Manual'
