December 2024 Software Release: New Features

The ITI Digital Development and Support teams are excited to share the following features and improvements that are newly implemented in the DXP Dashboard:

1. Dedicated URL for Filter by Category for Places & Events:

This feature allows users to create a dedicated link for a specific Event or Place category and share the link. Why would this be used? Previously, a custom category would need to be embedded on a full web page to share that page URL. Now, you may link to your general Event Calendar or Business directory with a specific category pulled up for viewing, no longer requiring the category to be embedded on a page.

The custom category link can be created using the following formulas:

For Events: [websiteURL]?ig-custom-events=[eventID]

[websiteURL] = This is the page where your Event Calendar is embedded.

[eventID] = This is the event category ID which can be found on the DXP Admin dashboard under: Customization > Custom Categories > Custom Event Categories.

An example of a direct link to the 'Music & Festivals' category displayed below looks like this:

For Places: [websiteURL]?ig-custom-places=[category-name]-[categoryID]

[websiteURL] = This is the page where your Google Place Module is embedded.

[category-name] = The category name that can be found in your DXP Admin dashboard under:  Customization > Custom Categories > Organize & Edit Places (Examples: lodging, hotels, rv--campground, bed--breakfast, things-to-do, arts-culture, art-galleries, museums, etc.).

[categoryID] = The place category ID found in your DXP Admin dashboard under: Customization > Custom Categories > Organize & Edit Places Categories -or- Create “Favorite Place” Categories.

An example of a dedicated Place category link for 'lodging' would look like this:

https://savannahvirtualvisitorcenter.com/places?ig-custom-places=lodging-62d2662455aa0a696aa0fd4a

Important notes:

After reaching the frontend page by following this kind of link, a site visitor will be able to view subcategories associated with this custom category, but will be unable to remove the category filter to see other categories, and must navigate away from this page first.
